2020: The Year of Finishing

My unwritten goal…well, written now, I guess… for 2020 seems to be clearing out the WIPs (Works in Progress) or the UFOs (Unfinished Objects) from my sewing room. There are many, and I’ve grown weary of moving them aside whenever I start working on a new project. Plus, some have languished in the closet or on the table for much too long. I have finished so many projects in the years I’ve been sewing, but I am also great at letting a project sit uncompleted. Case in point, the queen-size bed quilt that took 19 years to finish.

Today, I completed a small pumpkin quilt, which I plan to hang on the wall once my husband finishes the hanger. Several years ago, my mom and I each made the pumpkin blocks. I’m hoping that by finishing my quilt, she’ll be inspired to complete hers!

The pattern, titled Pumpkin Farm, is by Eleanor Burns. I took some liberties and changed up the sashing and made mine a bit smaller. For quilting, I used a gold metallic thread in the pumpkins and sashing and dark green for the stems.
